I am extremely happy with this natural and ethical sun-screen. Although I have allergies and over-sensitivities, rashes and inflamation including skin sensitivity, I am finding this natural-based sunscreen totally tolerable. The aroma is subtle. The screen has greater control when applying it than there might be with regular spray type products. I have not experienced any noticable over-exposure from the sun whilst carefully using this product.

Having very fair, sensitive, eczema and acne prone skin this product is great for me when exposing my skin to the sun. It hasn't aggravated my skin at all, it's doesn't feel too heavy on my skin but I feel like my skin is being protected. I would definitely recommend.

I never thought I'd feel emotional about sun cream but here I am! I got in touch with the Shade' team after my 3 year old came out in yet another dreadful reaction to sun cream- que horrendous parent guilt. We're talking raised, red, itchy, angry rash that lasts for days. Her latest reaction was from a well known brand that advertises specifically for babies and children with eczema/allergen prone skin. So I scoured the internet for another option, my family and I have been kept sane by walking in lock down and sun protection is important to me. I stumbled upon Shade natural sunscreen and was immediately intrigued as i could list the ingredients on one hand (surely a good starting point). I reached out to the company and they sent me back a lovely response that was very sympathetic and reassuring. From a customer service point alone I would recommend this company. Anywho, fast forward and I received my small pot which I have used on my daughter as a patch test and there has been NO reaction. Nothing. Nada!! I applied a little to her cheeks and back of her neck (places where her previous rashes from suncream have seemed angriest) to really put it to the test and again no reaction. To say I am over the moon is an understatement. Sun safety is mainly common sense and staying out of the midday sun, covering up etc but having this product just gives me so much more reassurance and 'sun confidence', I honestly cannot thank this company enough. Their ethos and the way they conduct themselves is above and beyond! I plan to order a bigger pot in the short future :)

At first I was put off because the product felt a bit gritty and hard to apply. I loved the protection it offered, the natural ingredients, the smell too!, and once I kept the tin in a warm place it changed everything, it glides on now! And because it is sitting out on the worktop (by the range) it reminds me to apply it several times daily. I can now cope with the sun, obviously not for hours on end but normal life has resumed. Being really fair I have tried many sunscreens and at last I feel happy with a product, being natural too is a bonus :)

Effective and simple, beautifully basic and no plastic in sight! The texture takes a little getting used to, but your skin and the planet is worth it.

Despite an initial panic when I received the package containing what I thought were styrofoam packing pieces- these turned out to be made from biodegradable maize starch. So pleased to be proved wrong and I'm impressed with the incredible efforts this company has gone to in every detail ensuring the eco-credentials of the product.

I've been using the sunscreen on myself and my 7 year old son. It is easy to apply if you warm it in your hands a bit first, it can take a little longer to apply than cream sunscreens unless you don't mind being covered in white streaks. My son didn't like the smell at first, but when he realised the it doesn't give him a rash (he has mild eczema) unlike cream sunscreens, even those claiming to be hypoallergenic, he is happy to have it on - result!

Overall I'm pleased I bought this - great service, arrived really quickly and a good, Eco- and skin friendly product.

I've been trying to find a sunscreen that is 1. Not going to irrate my skin (I'm allergic to most active sunscreen ingredients) and 2. Didnt make me oily and sweaty.

I normally use Green People's sunscreen and while it's a fab sunscreen it was too heavy on my skin.

Shade is literally everything I was looking for. Aye, it has a white cast but with physical sunscreens it's best to do a few thin layers so that the cast fades away quicker.

It's ridiculously easy to apply, just take a generous amount out the tub and rub in your hands to soften it up. Then it glides over your skin like butter and your protected from sun damage.

I will be switching over to Shade as my primary sunscreen and my skin couldn't be happier!!

This sunscreen works really well. I like the fact that the solid consistency makes it buildable and long-lasting - a fairly small amount goes a long way.

I've been looking for a zero waste sunscreen for a long time and this fits the bill. Even the delivery packaging was all composed of non-plastic and eco-friendly alternatives. Great job! Glad to be supporting this company and will continue to do so.

I've tried lots of physical sunscreen brands after having found myself becoming sensitive/allergic to many chemical sunscreens. Shade sunscreen works well for my sensitive skin and leaves minimal white cast or greasiness after rubbing in (as you would expect from a physical sunscreen). I love the fact that there are minimal ingredients, the packaging is low waste, and most importantly, unscented. It simply only contains ingredients that make it a sunscreen, period. The only downside is that Shade isn't sold in Australia so the shipping would have left a decent carbon footprint. Please stock here soon. Would definitely buy again for the Australian summers and all year round. Cheers.

We are happy with Shade Sunscreen. It is a great alternative to conventional sunscreens and a great choice for people who care about their impact on the environment.

It is a bit thick and therefore harder to spread than a more fluid form of sunscreen.
